Things to know prior to signing Contract.
Things to know in advance to placing a deposit on a kitten from ShallowCreek Maine Coon Cattery

*No Refunds, No Resale, No Size Guarantee, No personality Guarantee. No Vet bills covered by breeder once kitten is off ShallowCreek Maine Coon Cattery’s Property and in possession of the buyers.

*The deposit is non-refundable. If Buyer fails to make any required payments on or before the payment dates specified above, the Contract may be terminated by Seller at its sole discretion without refunding the deposit to Buyer.
*Should buyer at any time back out on kitten after deposit has been made and contract has been signed, the Seller reserves the right to NO Longer approve buyer for any future kittens from ShallowCreek Maine Coon Cattery.
* A lifetime of support:
At any time for any reason, you can reach out to us with questions about your Maine Coon kitten. We love to talk Maine Coons and look forward to providing you with a lifetime of support. We love getting updated photos as they grow! We are in the business of building relationships.
*Before you bring your kitten home: Make sure no-one in your home is allergic to cats (Maine Coons are NOT hypoallergenic). The time to determine that is BEFORE YOU PLACE A DEPOSIT! Go to a family member or friends home that has a cat (everyone in your home, play with said cat and make sure you are not bothered by the cat. If you get stuffy nose, watery eyes, sneezing, hives on skin, itchy, puffy face those are signs of allergic reaction you should absolutely not go any further and Do NOT sign this contract).
*NO children under 12 are allowed for either the 8-week-old visitation or on day of pick-up. Please make proper arrangements for a sitter if needed. (Children being left in vehicle or running around our property is not proper arrangements and will not be allowed). Dates are set up well in advance to allow buyers proper arrangements.

*Why? This is set to ensure the safety of my animals. (yes, there was an incident that created this protocol; yes, you may ask, but no it is NOT a happy story).
​
*1-Visitation is allowed after the 8-week Vet checkup. Visit is limited up to 1 hour; this is to make sure everyone can be scheduled to meet their kitten.
*Pick-up day can take up to an hour to go over things with you and I need all your attention for this.
​
*A hard sided carrier is needed for vehicle travel; unless: Seller is meeting Buyer at MSP and Buyer is flying home then an airline approved soft-sided carry is needed.
* If Buyer is flying to MN to pick up kitten Seller is willing to drive to Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport to meet you. This needs to be arranged with Seller.
*The scheduled pick-up date is a tentative pick-up date. Breeder will do best to make sure that happens on time, but sometimes cannot be met. Ex. Kitten gets cold, diarrhea, personal family situation. Most of time Kittens leave on dates set.
*If you or your family are ill, it is required you contact breeder prior to coming. Place of business is my home and I need to keep my family well. A different place of meeting can be arranged for same pick-up day, but will not be held at my home if you are ill. I to respect that if my family is ill to let you know a new place of pick-up to keep your family well.
* Positive Posting and Kitten updates:
ShallowCreek Maine Coon Cattery is on Facebook. Follow Us! Like Us! Also message us on our Facebook page and we will then have access to send you videos and photos! This way each week you can see your kitten grow while you are waiting to visit and waiting to pick up as not everyone lives close enough to visit. We are an internet based business and the highest compliment you can pay to us is positive posting on social media. If you have been pleased with the kitten selection and purchasing process and love your new kitten, we ask that you go to ShallowCreek Maine Coon Cattery on Facebook then to reviews and write a FIVE STAR review about your positive experience, then post a photo of your gorgeous kitten and continue to post photos as your kitten grows! Everyone loves the kitten photos!
*Once you are home with kitten: During the first 7 days, keep your kitten quiet and happy along with taking to the Vet within the first 3 days you have your kitten. This first 7 days is the quarantine stage where the kitten should be housed away from other animals. This will allow Kitten to settle in and be less stressed and overwhelmed. By not following this there is a good chance your kitten will become ill. Leaving ShallowCreek, long vehicle ride, away from mom/littermates, new surrounding are all triggers for stress. Common stress related symptoms including but not limited to are: runny nose, eye discharge, sneezing, lack of appetite, constipation, as well as stress induced diarrhea. These symptoms can all run the risk of becoming a upper respiratory infection. Such symptoms are not included in this guarantee and are normal upon transition and usually of short duration. Do not change the kittens dry food for the first 3 months. Their wet food may not be available to all areas this we understand. Use Dr. Elsey Kitten Attract litter(pink box) for a minimum of 3 months.
*For dry food we feed YoungAgain Junior formula 47/22 (they can eat this till they are 3 years old! then switch to Original formula 50/22 or Mature formula 54/22.

*For wet food we feed Authority Kitten (Chicken and Liver) Only found at PetSmart. This may not be available to everyone as some areas do not have a PetSmart, we do understand that. That being said please make sure whatever wet food you decide to feed is high protein based. Wet food’s purpose is to help your Maine Coon get extra fluids!
* For litter we use Dr. Elsey’s Kitten Attract (Pink box). I recommend using this litter for at least 3 months to help make sure your kitten knows where it is supposed to go! After that litter is up to you. For our adults we use Pine Pellets from tractor supply $6.49 for a 40lb bag! Also smells less than normal litters and is healthier for cats!
* Every kitten that leaves ShallowCreek is sent home with a 1-inch binder! This binder holds all your important information on your kitten. Receipt, Health record, Microchip info, health certificate from vet, fecal PCR test, and so much more.
* We send home the offer of Pet Insurance through Trupanion Pet Insurance. It is 30 Free days of coverage. It does need to be activaqted within 24 hours of the kitten leaving. There is NO RISK, no Credit Card put on file. All they need is name, address, phone. Yes, they will contact you to see if you want to continue coverage, no you do not have to. They do pay the vet directly, so you are not waiting for a reimbursement! Their website is: www.trupanion.com if you would like to check them out.

ShallowCreek uses SpaySecure for Spay/neuter contracts. This is a separate contract that will be sent to you along with signing this contract.

How to prepare for PICK UP day at ShallowCreek Maine Coon Cattery
​
*Schedule a vet visit as soon as you have the pick-up day scheduled with Seller. Needs to be seen within 3 days of leaving Sellers home to keep health guarantee. Pick-ups are Fridays, so Vet visit needs to be that following Monday. Call ASAP to insure you get in.

*Per my workdays off- Kitten vet visits are done on Thursdays, There-fore pick-up will be scheduled next day. Plan ahead to take that Friday off work for pick up. I’ll know these dates early on to make things as easy as possible for you. Unfortunately, these are my only two days available for visit day and pick up day.

*Have Youngagain Junior kitten food (Blue Label) ordered so you have on hand. They only ship Monday through Thursday. I do send a couple days of food with but not enough to get you through till an order arrives.
​
*Please have Cash payment ready prior to pick-up day. ATMs do not hold enough money for final payment. Also, most bank cards you are only allowed to pull certain amount of cash, typically not enough for pickup day, so be prepared day before. This ensures your kitten goes home with you on time.

*Purchase your hard sided carrier or if flying soft-sided.

*Please stop at Gas Station prior to arriving at ShallowCreek Maine Coon Cattery for any Bathroom needs. We do NOT allow people in our personal Family area for any reason. KwikTrip is about 1 mile away from us.
